E-Cigarette Bill Signed Into Law

Governor Cuomo signed into law legislation to regulate the use of e-cigarettes/vaping under New York State’s Clean Indoor Air Act.  The effective date of Chapter 335 of the Laws of 2017 is 30 days after the legislation was signed into law.

This has been one of NYSACHO’s key advocacy priorities for a number of years, as well as a priority of a broader tobacco control coalition. Three pieces of e-cigarette legislation passed this year, and this is the second one to be signed into law. The first bill signed into law prohibited the use of e-cigarettes on school grounds.

The remaining bill would require vendors of electronic cigarettes and/or liquid nicotine to register with the state department of Taxation and Finance, if they are not otherwise registered.
